Teen Start Up LogoBased on the success of Start-Up Camp Canberra, Lighthouse introduced Teen Start-Up in 2015.  Run over the course of a single weekend students form teams, work together to come up with an idea for a business and then pitch their concept to a panel of judges.  Students participate in workshops and presentations from industry professionals and entrepreneurs.

Teen Start-Up aims to encourage entrepreneurial thinking and is open to anyone over the age of 12 years who is interested in innovation, creativity and problem solving. For more information on Teen Start-Up, visit http://www.teenstartupcamp.com.au/

Teen Start-Up: Idea Lab

Monday 8 October, 9:00am - 3:30pm | $99 | For students aged 11-16 years

"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that don't work."
– Thomas Edison on failure and the invention of the light bulb

To be a good innovator or problem solver, you must also be a maker. Once you think of the idea, you must also be able to design and build it. And then when it all goes wrong, redesign and rebuild it again. We often forget the trial and error (and error and error!) that goes into achieving success. Just because something doesn't work one way, that doesn't mean it can't succeed in another.

Experimentation, imagination and curiosity are the key ingredients of 'Idea Lab'. During this 1-day hands-on workshop students will use real world problems as inspiration for their creative solutions, designing, tinkering and building their ideas using everyday objects and materials.
